Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Makkaddam Service Business Private Limited ("Makkaddam," "we," "us") handles information in connection with the Makkaddam GPS Camera Android application (the "App"). It is written to reflect what the App actually does, based on a direct review of its source code, not a generic template.
2. Company information

3. Scope
This Policy applies to the Makkaddam GPS Camera Android app only. It does not apply to any other Makkaddam product, or to third-party apps you may use to open or share a photo or PDF exported from this App.
4. Camera permission
The App requests Camera access to let you capture site photographs. Camera access is used only when you actively open the camera screen and take a photo. The App takes still photos only: it does not record video, it does not request microphone access, and audio is disabled in its camera configuration.
5. Location permission
The App requests Fine and Coarse Location access to record the GPS coordinates and accuracy of the device when you capture a photo. While the camera screen is open and in front of you, the App follows the device's location so that a recent position is ready at the moment you press the shutter, and so it can show a live GPS status. Location use stops as soon as you leave the camera screen (for example to open the gallery or settings), switch to another app, or lock the phone. The App never uses location in the background and does not keep a history of your movements — only the position used for each photo is stored, as part of that photo's record.
6. Precise location
Because construction-site documentation depends on an accurate coordinate, the App requests precise (fine) location rather than only approximate location. You may deny this permission; the App will still capture photos, simply without a location stamp.
7. Photos / media
Photos you capture are saved to the App's own private storage area on your device — the original, unedited photo, a separate stamped copy with the data overlay applied, and, if you mark up a photo, a separate marked-up copy. The App does not access, read, or modify photos taken by any other app, and does not request broad photo-library permissions.
Copies in your phone Gallery. By default, the App also saves a copy of each new stamped photo to your device's shared Pictures folder, in an album called "Makkaddam GPS Camera", and you can copy other photos there with "Save to phone gallery". These copies are visible to your gallery app and to other apps you have allowed to access photos, and may be backed up by a photo backup service you use (such as Google Photos). You can turn automatic copying off at any time under Account & Storage in the App. On Android 7, 8 and 9 only, saving these copies requires the storage permission, which the App asks for the first time it is needed; newer Android versions do not need any permission for this.
8. Project information
Project, Site, Activity, Building and Floor names you create or select, and any photo remarks, marks or custom file names you add, are stored locally on your device as part of the App's own data file, to organize your photos. This information is entered by you; the App does not infer or generate it independently.
9. User profile information
The App allows you to optionally enter your Name, Designation, Company, and a Makkaddam ID. These fields are used only to label photos as "Captured By" when you choose to display that field, and are stored locally on your device. They are never required to use the App, and any field left blank is simply omitted from stamped photos rather than filled in automatically.
10. Device information
The App reads device sensor data necessary for its function — GPS location and the device's compass/magnetometer — and does not otherwise collect device identifiers such as your device's advertising ID, IMEI, or serial number.
11. Internet / network information
The App uses your internet connection for one purpose: to resolve a readable address from GPS coordinates (reverse geocoding), via the Android operating system's own geocoding service. To do this, the device's location coordinates are sent to that service (on most Android phones this is provided by Google). This is best-effort and runs in the background; if it is unavailable, the App simply omits the address.
12. Data storage
All data the App creates — your projects, sites, activities, user profile, overlay preferences, and the record of every captured photo — is stored in a local data file within the App's private storage area on your device, together with a safety copy of that file. Photos are stored as described in Section 7. Nothing is stored in a cloud database.
13. Local storage, backup and uninstalling
Data described in Section 12 remains on your device unless you choose to share it. The App turns off Android's automatic cloud backup for its private data, so your photos are not silently copied to an online account. If you want a copy elsewhere, the App's "Back up all photos (ZIP)" option creates a ZIP file that you save wherever you choose. Uninstalling the App, or clearing its data in Android settings, deletes the App's private storage, including the App's own copies of your photos. Copies already saved to the phone Gallery (Section 7) are not deleted by uninstalling.
14. Server / cloud storage
The App does not currently operate, or transmit data to, any Makkaddam-run server or cloud storage service. The current version has no account system and no backend to sync data to.
15. Data transmission
Aside from the reverse-geocoding lookup described in Section 11, the App does not transmit your photos, PDFs, project data, or profile information anywhere. A photo, PDF or backup file leaves the device only when you choose to share or save it.
16. Third-party services
The App uses the following third-party software components, all of which run on-device: a camera plugin, a location plugin, a reverse-geocoding plugin (which relies on the Android operating system's built-in geocoder), a compass plugin, an image and PDF library used to build thumbnails and PDF files on the device, and the native Android share function, used only when you choose to share. The App also contains Google's Firebase Authentication library, included for an optional Makkaddam sign-in planned for a future version. In the current version, sign-in is switched off: the library is never started, and no data is sent to Firebase. If sign-in is enabled in a future version, this Policy will be updated first. None of these components transmit your data to Makkaddam or to each other beyond what is described in this Policy.
17. Analytics
The App does not include any analytics software development kit (SDK). No usage analytics are collected.
18. Advertising
The App does not include any advertising SDK and does not display advertisements.
19. Crash reporting
The App does not include any crash-reporting SDK.
20. Data sharing
Makkaddam does not sell, rent, or share your photos, project data, or profile information with any third party, because the App does not transmit this information anywhere in the first place (with the sole exception of the reverse-geocoding lookup in Section 11, which is a platform-level call to Android's own geocoder, not a Makkaddam-operated service). When you choose to use the App's Share feature, the photo, PDF or backup you select is sent only to the destination app you personally choose (e.g. WhatsApp, email) — this is your action, not the App's.
21. Legal disclosures
Makkaddam may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, to the extent Makkaddam holds any such information — which, per Sections 12–15, is limited to what is stored locally on your own device and not accessible to Makkaddam remotely.
22. Data retention
Data described in this Policy is retained locally on your device for as long as you keep the App installed, or until you delete specific photos, projects or sites within the App. Copies in the phone Gallery remain until you delete them there.
23. Data deletion
You can delete individual photos or several at once from the App's gallery (you confirm the exact number first); this removes the App's original, stamped and marked-up copies. Deleting a Site does not automatically delete photos already saved for it. To remove all App data and photos, uninstall the App or clear its data in Android settings. Copies in the phone Gallery and any backup ZIP or PDF you saved elsewhere are not removed by the App — delete them in the app where they are stored.
24. User rights
Because your data is stored locally on your own device rather than on a Makkaddam server, you retain direct control over it at all times — you can view, edit, export, or delete it within the App, or remove it entirely by uninstalling the App.
25. Security
The App stores its data within Android's private, sandboxed app-storage area, which is inaccessible to other apps without device-level compromise (e.g. root access), and writes files in a way that avoids corrupted or half-saved photos. Copies you choose to keep in the phone Gallery are outside that private area (see Section 7). Makkaddam has no ability to access data stored locally on your device.
26. Children's privacy
The App is intended for professional use by construction-industry personnel and is not directed at children. Makkaddam does not knowingly collect information from children.
27. International data transfers
Because the App does not transmit your data to a Makkaddam-operated server, no international transfer of your data by Makkaddam occurs in connection with normal App use.
28. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy as the App's functionality changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
